This 1982 Ferrari 400i is said to have been custom-ordered by its first owner at the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy. It was imported to the US in 1982 and federalized by Amerispec in Danbury, Connecticut, where it was reportedly tested by Car and Driver and featured in their December 1982 issue. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2020, and over $45k of subsequent work included overhauling the rear differential and rebuilding the water pump, starter, and steering column switch as well as replacing the cam cover gaskets, front crankshaft seal, right fuel tank, right window regulator cable, engine mounts, tie rods, drive belts, and assorted suspension, braking, and electrical components. Finished in Grigio Scuro Metallizzato over a Rosso leather interior, the car is powered by a fuel-injected 4.8-liter V12 mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
